Artists we expected to be on the nomination list for the 2025 Grammys but weren’t.
I was quite shocked to not see the names of some artists on this list besides putting out some really great pieces of work within the time period eligible for the Grammys. Why? For some of them we’ll never know but here are the artists we thought stood out.
Ariana Grande
I’ve been a fan of Ariana Grande since her Cat Valentine days and since she left Nickelodeon she hasn’t failed to serve.
Ariana Grande released her Eternal Sunshine album on March 8 2024, though well received, it has failed to bag any nominations for the 2025 Grammys. Fans have speculated that this may be because the album wasn’t promoted well enough due to her being busy with the Wicked movie filming.
Tyla
Tyla is the media’s sweetheart and IT Girl but she failed to bag a nomination despite releasing her Debut self titled album this year. None of the other songs on the album apart from Water has managed to catch the attention of the 2025 Grammys.
Megan Thee Stallion
Despite putting out an impressive body of work with great visuals and lyrics that sparked a beef between her and the Queen of rap, Nicki Minaj, it didn’t get any nominations this year. I’d say this is because of the Crazy beef one of the songs on her album caused between her and Nicki Minaj. The Grammys know better than to be involved in messy.
Nicki Minaj
Speaking of the Queen of Rap, she released her album Pink Friday 2 late last year but it didn’t get any nominations at the Grammys. Not so surprising as we all know Nicki’s not really the Grammy’s favourite.
Dua Lipa
Dua Lipa’s album has been largely forgotten by fans even though it was released in May this year. After Houdini, it failed to garner any traction. But we know that isn’t the reason she didn’t get a Grammy nomination as we can see other artists in her talent level and below get nominations.
Kpol idols
Our focus is on Lisa of Black pink, she has been highly active in 2024, releasing several solo projects that garnered significant attention, though they may not yet have translated into Grammy nominations. In particular, her singles “ROCKSTAR” and “New Woman,” released in June and September 2024 respectively, received substantial acclaim. Lisa’s performance of these songs at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards was a standout, showcasing her strong stage presence and dance skills. These singles also achieved notable streaming success, each surpassing 100 million streams on Spotify, which reflects their popularity globally.
