The Zambian government is committed to ensuring a stable electricity supply through continued imports and faster completion of planned power generation projects across the country. Chief Government Spokesperson, Cornelius Mweetwa, confirmed that the government is monitoring water levels at hydropower stations, as recent rains have improved conditions.

At a press briefing today, Mweetwa outlined the government’s ongoing efforts to address logistical challenges, particularly in maintaining a constant fuel supply across the nation. He emphasized that these measures aim to ensure fuel availability at all filling stations.

In response to the cholera threat, Mweetwa highlighted steps taken to combat the disease, including pre-positioning medical supplies and non-medical logistics in high-risk districts and provincial capitals.

Additionally, the government has approved the establishment of a regional office for the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA) in Zambia. This approval comes as BADEA currently lacks a regional office in Southern Africa, furthering Zambia’s role as a key player in the region’s economic development.

These measures reflect the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure, public health, and regional economic partnerships.
