The U.S. State Department has approved a significant foreign military sale to Zambia, which includes the provision of Bell 412 Enhanced Performance Exportable Medium-Lift Transport Helicopters and related logistical support. The deal, valued at an estimated $100 million, was confirmed in a statement from the Pentagon on Monday.

According to the Pentagon, the principal contractor for this sale will be Bell Textron, a renowned aerospace manufacturer based in Fort Worth, Texas. The helicopters, designed for medium-lift transport, are expected to enhance Zambia’s military capabilities, providing greater mobility and logistical support for various operations.

“The State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Republic of Zambia of Bell 412 helicopters and related logistics and program support,” the Pentagon’s statement reads.

This sale represents a key step in strengthening the defense relationship between the United States and Zambia, providing the Zambian military with advanced equipment to bolster national security. Additionally, the deal includes logistics support, ensuring that Zambia has the necessary infrastructure for maintenance and operation of the new helicopters.
