KCSE 2024 Results: A Pivotal Moment in Kenya’s Education System

2024 KCSE Results Unveiled by Education CS Julius Ogamba

The eagerly awaited 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results have been officially announced by Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba at Mitihani House in Nairobi. Over 962,000 candidates, who took their exams in 10,755 centers nationwide, can now access their results. Before the announcement, CS Ogamba, alongside officials from the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), presented the results to President William Ruto at State House, Nairobi. In his address, the President applauded the progress made in the education sector, attributing successes to initiatives such as curriculum improvements, the hiring of additional teachers, and better-equipped schools.

The exams, administered between October 22 and November 22, 2024, required the input of 32,800 examiners, an increase from 29,876 in 2023, to ensure accurate and efficient marking. Despite these efforts, challenges such as exam malpractices were reported, including cases of leaked materials and teacher involvement in cheating. To counteract these issues, the government implemented strict security measures. These included personalized exam papers bearing each candidate’s details—such as their name, index number, and school—ensuring tighter accountability. Additionally, special courts were set up to fast-track cases related to examination malpractice, demonstrating the government’s zero-tolerance stance.
