Born on November 4, 1991, in Rajasthan, Shashank Singh stands out as a dynamic Indian cricketer celebrated for his multifaceted skills on the field. Hailing from Mumbai, the right-handed batter showcases is an integral member of the Chhattisgarh state team in domestic circuit.
Renowned for his ability to strike the ball cleanly, Shashank also offers utility off-break bowling and exhibits commendable fielding prowess, making him a valuable asset across all facets of the game. His talents have garnered attention from numerous IPL franchises since 2017, reflecting his potential to shine on the grand stage of T20 cricket.
Shashank’s journey into professional cricket commenced with his List-A debut for Mumbai in 2015, where he played an unbeaten knock of 47 runs off just 22 balls against Saurashtra. That innings caught the eye of talent scouts and paved the way for his entry into the Indian Premier League arena, securing a contract with Delhi Daredevils for the 2017 season, although he did not feature in any matches.
In 2019, Shashank embarked on his first-class cricket journey, representing Chhattisgarh in the prestigious Ranji Trophy tournament against Odisha. His consistent performances in domestic cricket earned him a spot in the Rajasthan Royals squad for the 2019 IPL season, where he showcased glimpses of his talent. The franchise retained him for the IPL seasons of 2020 and 2021.
Although Shashank encountered hurdles in solidifying his position in the Rajasthan Royals squad, his perseverance and determination shone through. A significant breakthrough came in 2023 when he became the first Indian First-Class cricketer to achieve the remarkable feat of scoring 150 runs and claiming five wickets in a single match during the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2023 encounter against Manipur, contributing significantly to his team’s triumph.
Shashank was acquired by Punjab Kings ahead of IPL 2024 and established it as a breakthrough season for him. His maiden IPL fifty came against Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad where he helped PBKS win the game.
